About Alana
Alana Snyder was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She is the granddaughter of two Holocaust survivors.
Alana attended the Jewish Day School, Krieger Schechter, and then Carver Center for Arts and Technology before getting a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Delaware. After college, she received a Master of Arts in Special Education from Towson University and has worked with children with disabilities for the past nine years, currently as an early intervention teacher with Baltimore County Public Schools.
In 2019, Alana discovered the groups 3GDC and 3GNY, two organizations for grandchildren of Holocaust survivors aimed at preserving and honoring their grandparents’ legacies through education, advocacy, and community-building. In late 2020, Alana completed the WEDU (We Educate) training through 3GNY, a program that assists third-generation descendants of survivors to learn to compellingly share their grandparents’ stories. In late 2021, Alana started 3GBMORE, a Baltimore-based group for grandchildren of Holocaust survivors. Alana currently lives in Baltimore with her husband and two young daughters.
