3GNY Stories Live: WEDU Wednesdays Luck Through Misfortune -- Our GG's Story Featuring WEDU Speaker Stacy Seltzer and Her Grandmother, Esther Bratt

Stacy will share the story of her maternal grandmother, Esther Bratt, who was born on March 8, 1929 in the "Jerusalem of Lithuania," Vilna. During the war, she survived the Vilna Ghetto, Hakapeh Labor Camp, and in the small cellar of a local farmer. She had many sliding doors moments that could have changed her story (and that of her family).

A winter jacket, her parents' intuition, courage, a love for life, and much luck led to her survival during the hardest years of her life. She was liberated in 1944 by the Russians and immigrated to the United States in June of 1946.

Stacy will be joined by Esther Bratt, her GG, for the Q&A portion of this program.

Stacy Seltzer

Stacy is the granddaughter of two Holocaust Survivors, Esther and Sidney Bratt. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary and currently reside in Reading, Pennsylvania. Stacy grew up in Allentown Pennsylvania, attended the Allentown Jewish Day School and Camp Ramah in the Poconos. She graduated from Muhlenberg College and earned her JD from Suffolk University Law School.

For as long as she can remember, her grandparents' stories played an integral role in her life. They have always been positive and upbeat with the most incredible tales of bravery and survival. After participating in Birthright's March of the Living in 2005 she joined a newly formed 3GNY.  A year later, after moving to Boston, she and her husband, Matthew, started Boston 3G. Stacy recently joined the 3GNY board and founded 3G Philly.  She currently resides in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania with her husband, Matt, and their three young children.
